Play Write-up
I am writing
my show write up on this ice show I saw at Busch Gardens called Iceploration. It was basicly about this young boy named
Austin and his Grandfather, who decides
to go out and explore the world. It was
a very interesting show. It was filled
with wonderful music, dancing, acrobatics, and skating. I have never seen anything like it, I think
it was a one of a kind show.
When my
girlfriend and arrived at the theater and seated, we were pleased to see that
the people who were selling food were already making their rounds, we were extremely
hungry. Another thing that I notice was
that it was very cold! I mean we had
just went on a water ride and we come in here and freeze our butt off, but it
was my fault. Anyways, The show was on of the greatest spectacles I’ve
ever seen. Like I’ve never seen human
beings move so gracefully, set designed so beautifully, or music that sounded
so heavenly. It wa like I was transported
to an entirely new world.
The though
the blocking for the show was amazing.
Like I don’t understand how you block something with so much movement. There would be as many as nine skaters on the
stage at once and yet their movements were still so seamless. I noticed they used similar blocking set ups
that we learned in class. They used A,
L, and I formations while in movement, making sure that we always had a clear
view of the graceful skates.
I was very
impressed by the scenery. We were amazed
to see the breathtaking sets. The play
took us through many locations like the African Serengeti, Great Barrier Riff and
the Amazon rainforest; all were beautifully designed. They used screens to give the look of an
underwater scene, that was my favorite show of scenery. The costumes were also amazing; they quickly
changed between costumes many times and very often. It was just an amazing show. I also enjoyed the many set pieces like the
huge fish puppet that they made swim around using a few skaters. It was a sight to see. Also I love when they went to the Amazon
Rainforest. They had these three
acrobats dressed as animals and they were just in the background doing backflips
and many other acrobatic maneuvers, while never touching. While they were doing that they had people in
front of them skating. Their costumes
were just dazzling. All of the colorful
backgrounds worked well with the backgrounds.
A great
touch to the show was when they began to drop ice on the audience. I would have to admit, It made things a lot
colder. The little things they did like
that just made the experience more magical.
Another thing they did was add actual animals to the show. They had birds flying around the roof, they
had a strange animal walk across the front of the audience. It was just a great spectacle to see. They had dogs bring in the two main actors
into the Arctic. Like I would have loved
to see a cheetah or a lion on stage, just to try to touch them, but they made
it clear not to touch the animal performers.
I was very
happy with my live performance. I got to
experience a great show. It was just
amazing watching the story unfold and watching the sets change so quickly and
often as they did. The dancing was
amazing, the music was amazing. The best
scene for the show was when they hand a cheetah chasing after a pack of defenseless
animals. The blocking of this scene was
amazing. The skaters were moving at very
fast speeds, and it made it look like the cheetah was really attacking. I love when all but one of the animals left
the stage and it hand to face the cheetah, it dance was amazing and was cool
how they were dancing and showing that they were fight against each other. This
was probably one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. I would love to go see it again. I recommended this show to everyone. Go enjoy it.
